Privacy policy

This site is simple, and we keep your data simple too.

What we collect

The site has no accounts, and we don't ask for your name or phone number. The only time we ask for your email address is if you choose to sign up for the weekly meal plan email (see below).

Your weekly meal plan choices are saved in your own browser so they are still there when you come back. They are not sent to us. The same goes for the recipes you save as favourites with the heart: they are kept in your browser (local storage on your device) and are never sent to us. They stay on that phone or browser, and clearing your browser data removes them.

Visit counts

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits in aggregate, for example how many people open a page. It does not use cookies, does not build profiles of individual visitors, and we do not use it for advertising. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to the data it processes.

Google Analytics

We also use Google Analytics to see which pages people find useful. Analytics cookies are only set if you choose "Accept" on the cookie notice. If you choose "No thanks", no analytics cookies are set and Google only receives basic, anonymous page-visit information. We do not use it for advertising. You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie choice" link at the bottom of any page. Google's privacy policy applies to the data it processes.

YouTube videos and thumbnails

Many dishes show the video's thumbnail picture. When you view a page with thumbnails, your browser loads those pictures from YouTube's image servers (i.ytimg.com), so Google can see your IP address and browser details, as with any website you visit. We don't add cookies for this, and we can't see that data.

The video player is different: it is only loaded when you press the play button on a dish page. It uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Once you press play, YouTube's own terms and privacy policy apply, and we don't control what it collects. Each YouTube dish also has a plain link to the video, which works the same way. Some dishes link to a recipe page on another website instead; those links just open that site, and its own privacy policy applies.

The site's fonts and pictures are served from this site, not from Google Fonts.

Weekly plan sign-up (optional)

If you sign up for the weekly plan, we store your email address, the date you signed up and which meals you chose (breakfast, lunch, dinner), with Cloudflare, who host this site. We use them only to send you the weekly meal plan and shopping list. We don't sell or share them, and we don't add any tracking to the emails. We keep them until you unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe on the unsubscribe page, or by emailing [email protected], and we will delete your address. The sign-up form has a hidden field and a timer to stop spam bots. It also uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you are a person; Turnstile loads from Cloudflare when you open the sign-up page, and Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to it. If you ask us to add you by email instead, we use your address in the same way.

If you use the "Share your recipe" form, we store the dish name, ingredients, steps, the optional photo and the optional name you type, plus the time you sent it. We use it only to read your recipe and decide whether to publish it. Nothing is published without our check, and we may edit it. If we publish it, we show the dish and the name you chose to credit, if any. We do not ask for your email address on this form. We keep unpublished submissions for up to 90 days, then delete them. To have your recipe removed, contact us using the details on the contact page and tell us the dish name. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile as a spam check.

Emails to us

If you write to us, we use your message only to reply to you. We don't sell or share it.

Changes

We do not show advertising. If we add advertising or other tracking later, we will update this page first and say what it collects.
